EVERTON SWIMMING ASSOCIATION HAILS EASTER COURSE A GREAT SUCCESS

It is three years since the last Easter Course, due to COVID, hence it was a leap in to the unknown, with a new team organising the event, and a lot of swimmers doing the weekend for the very first time. Lots of the older swimmers from Inter A had left or did not sign up this year, so it was the youngest group of swimmers ever to have attended. Swimmers ranged from aged six to fifteen years of age.

The swimmers from Inter A swam over a three day period twenty one KM, and Bee Squad swam fourteen KM.

The world famous “Bobsticle” course was a great success and all the children finished the course in traditional soaking wet style.

The fancy dress parade was judged by Tom Rock, who gave best dressed to Molly Garner for Steve’s Sharks and Megan Templeton for Claire’s Crazy Kids.

Awards were handed out to Dominic Workman for winning the kickboard competition, and for the girls Izzy Cater won the kickboard race.

In addition, Izzy also won the Best Endevour award for Inter A over the whole weekend, and Callum Cheung won the same award for Bee Squad.

It was a clean sweep for the Carter’s as Izzy’s dad Steve won the gala, narrowly beating Claire in a nail biting cannon finale.

The gym was well organised with mornings focused on land based training, whilst afternoons were arranged around team events.

The kitchen ran extremely efficiently and served a great mix of healthy meals and snacks to fuel the swimmers over what turned out to be a tremendous three days of effort.

Thank you to all the parents who helped in the kitchen, gym, on poolside, setting up the Bobsticle course, and the team that planned the event over a period of months.

Let’s hope 2022’s forty six swimmers go back to the club and tell the rest of the squad how fantastic it was, so that 2023 will be bigger and better.

Well done to all involved – See you next year!
